Kindergarten Field Trips

Kindergarten will attend 5 field trips this year. We travel in chartered buses for each trip. All field trips are chaperoned by the teachers (unless it is a trip where we need one or two extra chaperones, at the discretion of the teacher). Our policy is that parents do not attend field trips with their child in order to help students develop their independence and their social interaction/development with their peers and teachers. Permission forms and information about the trip will be sent home 2-3 weeks prior to each trip. All money and signed forms must be returned by the due date for each trip. Following are the field trips for 2011 - 2012:

1. Walden Farm in Smyrna - Tuesday, October 18, 2011. We will have a hay ride and eat a picnic lunch with the kindergarten classes.

2. Traveller's Rest - TBA. We will tour the house, which will be decorated appropriately for the period. Some of the activities in which we will be participating include dancing the Virginia Reel, making an ornament, writing holiday cards with a quill, and partaking in refreshments suitable to the period.

3. TPAC - Tuesday, February 28, 2012. We will be attending a performance of "Eric Carle stories ", based on a collection of Eric Carle’s stories and characters.

4. Nashville Children's Theater -Tuesday, April 24, 2012. We will be attending a performance of "Click, Clack, Moo ".

5. Nashville Zoo – Wednesday, May 23, 2011. This is our end of the year field trip. Our zoo trip will begin with the children touring the zoo in small groups. We will join together for lunch; then visit the jungle gym, weather permitting. Younger siblings and parents are invited to attend this field trip.
