Letter of the Week: -Uu This week we learn about Ms. U and her/u/ sound like in unusual umbrella. She loves to be up high! She loves rain and water, which fits in great for spring weather and all of the rain we are to have this week. We will have a lot of fun with umbrellas this week and also explore under water and under ground with Ms. U.  Her big book she will share with us is Up, Up and Away.

Rebus Books: We bring home Up and Down this week. The children are doing such a great job reading. I am so proud of them and how hard they are working. Some are even beginning to try sounding our words. WOW! :) We are so BIG! Continue to keep their rebus books in a place they can reach them and read with them every night, practicing the everyday words. Most of the children are ready to be introduced to some new sight words so we introduced up, not, but to be added to our list.

WRITING ACTIVITIES-

Our modeled writing sentence this week is Look, I made a ______________. We continue to discuss the writing process while we write by pointing out the letters we use in words, how long the words are, a sentence begins with a capital letter, ends with a punctuation mark and has spaces in between words.

We are working on several different books that we are learning to write our everyday words and complete sentences with our own words. This week we will learn what a poem is and make a class poem about the earth and taking care of it.

We will make a sight word book to bring home called Rain.
