HRA History

In January 1954, the first Catholic parish in Donelson was established. Holy Rosary Church was built that year on 7.8 acres of land on Graylynn Drive. In the fall of 1954, Holy Rosary Academy opened with a faculty of six, mostly religious Sisters.  In the years since, the school has grown both in staff and enrollment to its current capacity of 530.  Throughout the years, additions and changes have been made to the original structure to accommodate the growing Catholic community.  Holy Rosary Academy serves the children of Holy Rosary, St. Stephen and St. Ignatius parishes as well as the surrounding community.  It is the second largest elementary school in the diocese of Nashville and has the approval of the Department of Education of the State of Tennessee, the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
