Message from Mrs. Hart:
The generosity of our families and students continues to shine!
I recently was told that one of our 5th grade students, Caroline
Conger, had her 11th birthday and invited the 5th grade class,
along with some 6th graders from her basketball team. In lieu of
gifts, Caroline asked that everyone bring in a cash donation for
Catholic Relief Services for their Haiti disaster mission. They
collected $607! Father Patrick Kibby from St. Stephen church,
upon hearing of Caroline’s idea and efforts, challenged other
St. Stephen parishioners to call upon their generous spirit, and
over $4,000 was collected at the Masses for this worthwhile cause.
We are very proud of our students and parents who contributed to
this effort.
I also want to convey my pride about our basketball teams. Our boys’ varsity
basketball team was undefeated this season, and was number one in the Diocesan
league! Look for them to play in the final games of the Diocesan league championship
this weekend at Father Ryan High School. Our boys’ JV teams did very well
also. The HRA JV blue team will be playing this weekend at Father Ryan as well.
Check out the DAC’s website for tournament information at www.nashvilledac.com.
This season we had 17 teams participating in basketball from the 3rd through 8th
grade classes. All the students played hard and hopefully benefitted from the
experience. Next week we begin soccer for the 5th through 8th grades, tennis for
grades K to 4th, and volleyball for girls in 7th and 8th grades.
Finally, I want to remind you that Monday is the final day for pre-registration for the
2010-2011 school year. It is very important that you let us know if your child(ren)
will return to HRA next school year. Budgetary and school planning issues are
determined in part by pre-registrations. Additionally, we have begun admissions
testing for new students who have applied for grades 1-8, and will admit new
students as we have room. If there are any concerns preventing you from making
a decision at this time, I ask that you please contact me so that we can address
those matters.
Have a great weekend. God bless you. Mary Hart
