PEACE WALL
January 2012
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is in January and many discussions or activities in the classrooms may focus on nonviolence and how to be peaceful to one another. As a school-wide, unified activity, each student was given a half sheet of paper, which became a “peace brick” to create a Peace Wall displayed in the school. Students were prompted to draw a picture, write a poem, or even write just one word or phrase to show what peace looks like or means to them, or how they can show peace to one another.
The pictures below are of our assembled Peace Wall, which shows Holy Rosary Academy's pledge towards nonviolence and peace. With January’s Fruit of the Spirit being Kindness and the Character Trait being Equality, this whole-school activity was a creative and fun way for the students to express their understanding of these important topics.
