Where is Holy Rosary Academy located? Holy Rosary Academy is conveniently located in the Donelson area, a suburb of Nashville, TN, one block off Lebanon Pike at 190 Graylynn Drive. Graylynn Drive is approximately three blocks east of the Briley Parkway/Lebanon Pike exit.

Is the Academy accredited? Holy Rosary Academy is accredited by the State of Tennessee and the Diocese of Nashville. Additionally, the Academy was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1994, and was most recently re-accredited in 2004.

How many students attend the Academy? Current enrollment is 480 students. We have three classrooms each of kindergarten through third grade students, and two classrooms each of fourth through eighth grade students.

Is there a uniform policy? Yes. Uniforms must be purchased through LaRose Uniform Company (phone: 615-467-2160). Girls may wear navy slacks, shorts or skorts; plaid jumpers (K-3 only), skirts or shorts. Boys may wear navy slacks or shorts. Both boys and girls wear the white or green polo (with the Holy Rosary Academy logo); girls that wear the plaid jumper have additional choices in blouses. Shoes are also required to be uniform.

What is the school's tuition? The Academy's tuition for the 2007-2008 school at the Catholic (participating) rate is as follows: one student is $3,800.00; two students $5,800.00; and three or more students is $7,600.00. The tuition per student at the non-Catholic or non-participating Catholic rate is $5,000.00. Tuition is payable with a pre-registration fee in spring (new students pay $200 for pre-registration); a registration fee in June, then equal monthly payments beginning July 1 and ending March 1.

Are there additional student fees or fees for books? All book and activity fees are included in the tuition. The only additional fees for students are for field trips (sufficient notice given to parents of upcoming trips and costs), extracurricular activities, and lunches.

Is financial aid, scholarships or loans available for tuition? Holy Rosary Academy does not offer any financial aid, scholarships or loans for tuition.

What extracurricular activities are offered for students? HRA offers a variety of activities for all ages. Participation on HRA's athletic teams does require an additional fee. Students in grades kindergarten through eighth may participate in cross country in the fall; students in grades kindergarten through fourth may participate in tennis clinics. Boys and girls in grades 3-8 may participate in basketball, and boys and girls in grades in grades 5-8 may play soccer for HRA. Additionally, boys in grades 4-8 may play football, and girls in grades 5-8 may play volleyball. Finally, 8 th grade girls may try out for the cheerleading squad. There are also Diocesan leagues available for baseball, golf, soccer, and wrestling.
Middle School students may participate in drama, by trying out for the school production that is held each year. Students in grades 5-8 may also participate in Forensics, in Debate and in Band (extra fee required). Additionally, students in grades 3-8 may also participate in choir.

Are there any special requirements for students to participate in athletics? A physical form, as required by the Diocese of Nashville, must be signed by the student's physician and turned in to the school office before a student may participate in any extracurricular athletic programs. Academic requirements are outlined in the student handbook.

Does the Academy have a preschool or pre-K program? The Academy does not have a preschool program, although our office can assist families looking for those programs in the area.

Would I be able to take a tour of the school during school hours? Yes. If your family is considering Holy Rosary Academy for your child(ren), we are happy to schedule a personal tour of our school for you. An appointment is required, however. Please contact Rosemary Neely in our Admissions/Development Office for further information.
In the fall of each year, the school hosts an Open House for prospective families and friends. This special day is typically held on a Sunday afternoon. This is a wonderful opportunity to walk through the school, look at our classrooms and meet all of our teachers.

Are the students at the Academy required to take a foreign language? Yes. All students in grades kindergarten through eighth have Spanish class between one and three times a week. The Academy has a full-time Spanish teacher.

Do Academy students have physical education? Yes. All Academy students have physical education class. In grades kindergarten through fourth, students have P.E. class daily; in grades fifth through eighth, students have the class twice weekly. Additionally, ALL students have a daily recess period of approximately 15 minutes.

How many teachers does the Academy have? The Academy has 22 homeroom teachers; five support teachers (Spanish, Music, Library, Computer and P.E.), one full-time school counselor, a technology coordinator and four teacher aides.

How many students are in each homeroom class? For grades K through third, no more than 20 per class; in grades fourth through eighth, approximately 30 per class.
