CLASSROOM NOTES:
Thursday Folder: Every Thursday, your child will bring home their Thursday Folder (this is what I call it!) It will contain their weekly conduct sheet, as well as graded papers from the previous week. It will also contain our class newsletter, which will be full of information about what we are doing in class. This folder will need to be signed and returned on Friday. (Please read each newsletter thoroughly, as the may be hidden messages!)
Classroom Art: I would like to have classroom art once per month. Those parents who are interested in lesson planning, volunteering and providing materials may contact our room parent. The room parent will be announced within the first week of school. I will then post the days and times for classroom art in the weekly newsletter (it will also be on our class web page).
Read Aloud: I would also like to have a parent read aloud once per month. Again, those interested, please contact our room parent. The days and times for Read Aloud will also be posted in the weekly newsletter. Classroom Art and the Read Aloud will begin in September (it will also be on our class web page).
Snacks: We will be having snack each day at 9:45am. I am encouraging the students to bring in a healthy snack that can be eaten in less than seven minutes. No drinks please….we will go to the water fountain. ***Please remember to send a snack with you child tomorrow!
Universal Paper Heading: Holy Rosary has adopted a universal heading for papers. Each paper should contain the student’s full name, subject, page number, date and student number.
Homework: There will be approximately 30 minutes of HW each night. On certain nights, there are assignments that you can expect: Monday—Read the week’s story and sign the form in the Reading text Tuesday—Finish spelling words Wednesday—Study for the vocabulary test tomorrow Thursday—Study for the Spelling & Reading comprehension tests tomorrow **These and other assignment will be written in our Agendas!
How to Reach Me: The best way to get in touch with me is through the school telephone system, and my personal voice mail. If there is something that does not require any feedback, sending a note into school is a good way to let me know things as well.
Field Trips: NCT- on the school calendar Best Christmas Pageant Ever/Spaghetti Factory—to be determined Purity Dairy—date to be determined Adventure Science Center--October 3
All About Me Board: Each week, a new student will be assigned to the All About Me board. I have started by using myself as an example. Students will need to bring in items that can be hung onto the small bulletin board at the front of the classroom. These items may be anything that lets us know a little bit more about your child. Please send in the items your child would like to use on the Friday prior to your child’s week. I will hang them over the weekend so that they receive a full week to have the board.
