AWARDS IN KINDERGARTEN

AWARDS AT HOLY ROSARY

CITIZENSHIP AWARD:

We would like to give you information about the ways the children can earn AWARDS at the end of each semester) as a result of their effort in good behavior. To encourage the children to develop good conduct/behavior habits, Holy Rosary has a "CITIZENSHIP AWARD" which the children in grades K, 1 and 2 can earn each semester for having consistently good conduct/behavior. This award is based on their weekly behavior grades for each semester. At the kindergarten level, we use the following criteria to earn the "CITIZENSHIP AWARD": each student who has earned all G's or all G's with three or four S's on their weekly behavior grades will be awarded the "CITIZENSHIP AWARD" at the end of that semester. (The FIRST THREE weekly behavior grades will not count toward the citizenship award since we allowed time for adjustment to school and the rules). This applies to the first semester only.

Their behavior grades will start over again at the beginning of each new semester, so if the award was not earned they will have the opportunity to work towards that goal for the next semester.

You can help your child "keep track" of this by reviewing their weekly  behavior grade at the end of each week on their behavior calendar which comes home in their “BEACH Book” each day.

100% HOMEWORK AWARD:

An additional award given in grades K, 1 and 2 is the "100% HOMEWORK AWARD" for consistently doing and turning in their homework assignments on time. In kindergarten this will include returning their B.E.A.C.H. books on time each day. If they do this consistently and do not forget it more than six (6) times in a semester, they will earn the 100% Homework Award beginning with the first semester, and each semester thereafter. In kindergarten we do not begin actual weekly homework assignments (spelling homework, once a week) until the second semester begins in January, so the homework award will then be combined with spelling homework and returning their B.E.A.C.H. books. Our hope is that this award will encourage and reward good homework habits and responsibility being developed in the younger grades.

Our Awards ceremonies are usually held the week following the end of each semester and the dates/times will be on the school & classroom calendars, with reminders in the Friday communication prior to the date. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend our Awards ceremonies!

Thank you,

The Kindergarten Teachers
