Kindergarten Homework Guidelines

        During the first semester, please look over your child's work that is sent home in the BEACH book and initial the daily behavior calendar as well as the weekly newsletter.  Please help reinforce skills by practicing at home and providing encouragement.  Occasional assignments may be sent home to complete with parents.

·        In mid January students will receive Spelling homework on Monday that is to be returned on Tuesday. Five Spelling words will be introduced and explored Monday. The students will write their spelling words 3 times each as homework. They will take a practice spelling test on Wednesday. If they receive a check +, they will not take the final test.  If they receive a check or a check -, they will take the final spelling test on Friday. 

· Kindergarteners may earn the homework award beginning in the first semester by bringing in their BEACH books every day.  This is an important way to teach your child responsibility.  After 6 days in a semester of not having the BEACH book signed or with them when they enter school in the morning, they will not be eligible for the homework award for that semester.  The award will also be based on returning other requested homework on its due date in the morning.  All homework (including the BEACH book) is considered late if not at school by 7:45.
