LOOK WHAT WE WILL LEARN!!

Kindergarten is an exciting learning time for your child.  This year will provide a variety of experience, activities and emotions that will help develop your child's readiness in the areas of emotional, academic, physical and social growth and build strong confidence and self esteem.  The first month of school we will be adjusting to a new classroom, school, rules and making new friends.  We will be going over the rules for the class, playground, dining hall, gym, library and meeting all of the other faculty and teachers in our school.  This will be done with fun art, music, reading and writing activities.  Topics of discussion will be...Our School, Making New Friends, and All about Me and My Feelings.  It is my goal to make every child feel important and successful.  We will do many activities throughout the school year to help build your child's self esteem and feel good about their learning.  The children will write many books about themselves and what they learn in school.  In September, we will review colors, shapes, and letter and number recognition through rhymes and classic literature.  We will also have many reading and writing activities when exploring these concepts. At the end of September and beginning of October, we will learn and experience the world of Mother Gosse Rhymes.  This unit goes along with our reading and literacy program.  Nursery Rhymes play a very important part in Early Literacy. Too often these rhymes are forgotten or never learned.  This year in KM we will be working on learning these wonderful, classic rhymes by memorizing poems at home and in class, each child will make their own book as we learn a rhyme and we will have our own show at the end of the unit.

My monthly and weekly newsletter and calendars will keep you abreast of all of the skills we are learning throughout the year!! :)
