Reconciliation

January 12th (Parent Meeting)- 6:00 p.m.

February 9th (1st Reconciliation) - 6:00 p.m.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (also called First Penance) is an awesome time for both parent and child. It is a time that we can show a desire to have a deeper relationship with God and proclaim the power of his forgiving love. This Sacrament brings us face to face with our unique struggles against evil and facilitates a freer and fuller response to God.

As this time nears, do not hesitate to ask questions if you do not know or do not remember! I will be more than happy to answer any question! So please do not feel like you have a dumb question. My goal is to prepare both parent and child for this Sacrament. It is also my prayer that you will continue to role model this Sacrament to your child.

Here are some of the steps that we will be teaching your child:

           1. Praying to the Holy Spirit so that we may look into our hearts.

           2. Examining your conscience. (How to Examine Your Conscience)

           3. Confession your sins.

           4. Father will give you a penance.

           5. Telling God you are sorry (The Act of Contrition).

           6. Being Absolved from our sins from Father Mark.

           7. Doing Penance (prayers or good deeds)

First Communion

Parent meeting -  March 9th, 7:00 p.m.

1st Communion - April 25, 10:00 a.m.

The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.

1 Corinthians 10:16-17

Parent Meeting - .

This meeting is mandatory. We ask that at least one parent attend and no children, please. Father will speak about the Sacrament of Communion and there will be additional information about the Mass.

1st Communion Mass -

The Holy Rosary Ladies Guild will have a booth set up outside the cafeteria, before and after the service, selling religious articles and gifts.

Communion Dress Code -

Boys – long or short sleeve white shirt, dark dress pants, a tie (a darker colored tie usually looks a little nicer), dark socks, and black or brown dress shoes.  Boys may wear a suit jacket but it is not necessary.  Often many of them take them off because they are too hot.  Also, for the class picture they will not wear the suit jacket.

Girls – The Communion dresses need to be white, off white or crème colored only, please.  Long sleeve, short sleeve and sleeveless is okay but NO straps.  The dress can be just above the knee, tea length or to the floor.  The girls may wear veils or small crown of flowers or something similar to that.  Small necklaces and earrings are okay.  They may have gloves or bracelets, but these items WILL NOT be allowed during the mass or the group pictures.  Teachers will not be responsible for any of these items.  Many girls leave these with mom and put them on for the individual pictures.

Hopefully these notes help you prepare for the less secular part of the Holy Communion Sacrament.

More information will come as we get closer to the date.

I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my fles for the life of the world.
