Holy Rosary Admissions, Enrollment & Admission Requirements

HRA was named a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the US Department of Education.

Admission screenings for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten applicants will be done in January. Parents who have already completed an application will be contacted in December with a request for the following documents:  birth certificate, baptismal certificate (if applicable), name of current preschool/daycare (if any), and a screening fee ($50).  Upon receipt of these items, a screening appointment will be scheduled.  Screening dates for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten will be set on two separate January Saturdays as noted on the school calendar.  Notification to parents regarding acceptance occurs approximately two weeks after the screening date.

Admission testing for grades 1-8 will begin in January. Again, parents who have completed an application for their student will be contacted in early January with a request for the following documents: birth certificate, baptismal certificate (if applicable), most current report card, most current standardized test scores, and testing fee ($50). Recommendation forms will also be provided by the Academy for the applicant's current school.  Upon receipt of these items, a testing appointment will be scheduled.

Applicants who apply later in the school year will follow the same criteria, and screening or testing appointments will be scheduled on weekday afternoons. Such applicants may require placement on a waiting list, pending available space in a given grade level.

Please contact the admissions office to be mailed an information/admissions packet or to address any concerns or questions regarding the application process. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

An after-care program is also available for enrolled students.

Applications for admission are accepted on a year-round, ongoing basis. Admission screenings for Pre-Kindergarten are held in January of each year for fall enrollment.

Kindergarten Enrollment

The Holy Rosary Academy Kindergarten classrooms are exciting and fun! Not only are the students exploring and gaining knowledge of reading and math concepts, but the hands-on activities including math manipulatives, science experiments and art projects serve to enhance the learning experience for the children.

Holy Rosary Academy incorporates the Diocese of Nashville kindergarten curriculum. The textbooks used include Reading Street, Open Court for Handwriting, and Harcourt HSP for Math. The students also enjoy classes in music, art, library, computer lab and physical education.

Each fall, the Academy hosts an Open House for preschoolers and their parents, during which visitors are encouraged to come in and join each of our kindergarten classrooms for a short time.

Admissions Requirements

Holy Rosary Academy in Nashville, Tennessee admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at each school. HRA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, financial aid programs, athletic and other school administered programs.

Holy Rosary Academy is a parochial elementary school supported by tuition and the contributions of the members of its “feeder” parishes. Registered, contributing parishioners and currently registered students who meet all Holy Rosary admissions requirements and deadlines will be given priority over all other applicants for admission to the Academy. Applicants will be given priority in the following manner:

  • Current registered students who:

    • (a) continue to meet school standards and

    • (b) complete the pre-registration process on or before the established deadline, and the siblings of such.

  • Registered, contributing members of Holy Rosary, St. Stephen and St. Ignatius parishes who meet all admission requirements and deadlines. Registered, contributing parishioners from other area Catholic parishes.

  • Non-Catholic students.

Limitations of space and class size may require the establishment of a waiting pool at some levels. All admissions are subject to the approval of the Principal and are based upon such criteria as the following:

  • Active/contributing parish membership

  • Acceptable school records (academic, behavioral, standardized tests, attendance, etc.)

  • Performance on entrance tests administered by the Academy

  • Student and/or family interview

Students applying for acceptance to kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year must be 5 years of age by August 15, 2017.  Students applying for Pre K must be 4 years of age by September 15 of the year of admission. Age must be verified by a birth certificate. Pre-Kindergarten tuition is a set fee.

Immunization Forms

Health medical examination forms and immunization records are required of all pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students, and all new students in grades 1-8. Additionally, students entering grade 7 are required to submit an updated certificate of immunization to the school prior to the beginning of the school year.

As of July, 2010, the Tennessee Department of Health changed and updated its immunization requirements for pre-school and school entry. For a list and schedule of those immunizations, check the Tennessee Department of Health’s website. A permanent Tennessee Certificate of Immunization verifying the required immunizations will be necessary prior to school admission. A child will not be permitted to start class until all required health forms have been completed by a physician and returned to the school office.

Additionally, students entering the 7th grade have the following additional vaccination requirements:

1. Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (whooping cough) booster (“Tdap”)

2. Verification of immunity to varicella (chicken pox) (two doses or history of the disease)
