Holy Rosary Academy

Mentoring

The Goal of Mentoring

“Holy Rosary Academy, in communion with parents, exists to cultivate a community rooted in the love of Jesus Christ through prayer, virtue, and the pursuit of academic excellence.” The goal of all formation at Holy Rosary Academy is that our students might become young men and women of intelligence, prayer, and virtue, free to live the good life - a deeply human life.

Mentoring is a part of the formational process at Holy Rosary as mentors accompany young people in the development of virtue through the articulation and achievement of goals - personal, spiritual, and academic; mentors provide support and accountability as our young people pursue those goals.

Recognizing that parents are the first formators of their children, mentors work closely with parents to understand each mentee’s needs and to support parents in their divine vocation of raising young saints.

Phillip Baker

A graduate of Holy Rosary Academy, Mr. Baker attended Syracuse University and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting before going on to join the Novitiate of the Dominican Friars, Province of St. Joseph. After leaving the Novitiate, Phillip served as the Youth Ministry Coordinator at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville, TN, where he expanded the high school youth group and built a Middle School youth program and a young adult ministry. After spending time in religious formation with the Fathers of Mercy in Auburn, KY, he is honored to be back at Holy Rosary Academy as one of the Directors of Mentorship.

A love for the human person led Phillip to the arts and to acting, and a love for the human person - “created by God and redeemed by Christ” - led him to the religious life. This fundamental love for the human person has permeated his classroom teaching at Holy Rosary; it is the foundation of his work as the Academy’s Director of Mentorship.

Recognizing the dignity and supernatural destiny of the human person, Phillip is invigorated by the project of forming the whole person through the pursuit of virtue and cultivation of a Catholic worldview, understanding them to be sources of authentic human freedom.

Audrey Konopka

Audrey Konopka received her Bachelor's of Arts in Philosophy from Franciscan University of Steubenville where she studied under professors Dr. Scott Hahn, Michael Waldstien, and Dr. Michael Healy. This led her to dive into the works of St. John Paul II which is the driving force behind her love for the youth.

Before this, Miss. Konopka spent her time studying as a classical pianist. By the time she was 18, she competed on the local, state, regional, and national level. She has performed with Stephen Tavani, Annie Fullard, Hana Chang, Pheonix Avalon, Wenlan Jackson, and more. This training ingrained what it meant to set a goal and reach it. It was this training that ultimately led her to study philosophy as it became clear that a goal without God is purposeless.

Audrey has served the youth through mission trips, youth groups, and teaching. She has been a part of Holy Rosary Academy’s faculty since 2024, where she taught PreK 3 and helped lead the middle school youth group. She is the girl’s Director of Mentorship and will teach the 8th grade girl’s religion.

When, What, Where

  • Mentoring sessions will take place once a month during lunch, recess, art, or STREAM. Each meeting will be 15 - 20 minutes.

  • During these meetings, we will be setting up goals and plans. In light of our Catholic faith, we will be integrating virtue language in our sessions.

  • Our mentoring sessions will take place in “public private places” - taking walks around our campus, the cafeteria, hallways etc.
